Cunningham hits treble to bring up eighth winner for 2026

Trainer saddles Global Machine, Tuts, and Adira on Monday’s 10-race card

Trainer Carlton “Jerry” Cunningham continued to show he’s a conditioner of notable worth after saddling three winners on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Cunningham’s winners were Global Machine, Tuts, and Adira on the 10-race card, bringing his tally to eight winners for the season.

Global Machine opened the day for Cunningham, ridden by Richie Shakes, in a 5 ½ furlong (1,100m) Optional Claiming ($500,000-$400,000) for three-year-olds and upward, native-bred six-year-olds, and upward non-winners of four.

The Hedge Fund – Sparing Time offspring Global Machine scored by 2 ¼ lengths over Skyrizi with Tevin Foster and Salud with Jaheim Anderson. Final time was 1:09.0, with splits of 24.1, 49.0, and 1:02.1.

Tuts made it two for Cunningham with a comfortable three-length win over 4 furlongs (800m). In the Optional Claiming ($350,000-$250,000) for three-year-olds and upward, Tuts with Foster aboard beat Undisclosdlocation and Tyrese Anderson, and Restoration with Demar Williams. The time was 48.3, going through 23.3 and 35.3.

Cunningham completed the treble with Adira, who made one decisive move under Shakes to take the Restricted Allowance II for native-bred five-year-olds and upward non-winners of four, and imported five-year-olds and upward non-winners of three, over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).

The Hedge Fund – Thisgirlisonfire mare held on by half a length from Princess Fiannie with Foster and Ruby’s Light with Anderson. She stopped the clock at 1:22.0, with fractions of 24.0, 47.4, and 1:14.2.
