Vibrant to pump over $1 billion into new FESCO location in St James
ROSE HALL, St James — The principals of Vibrant Managers Limited, a new player in the service station sector, have revealed that they plan to spend over $1 billion to develop their first service station in St James.
“It’s a lot of infrastructure work that we have to put in there,” Vernon James, one of the three partners in the enterprise told the Jamaica Observer during a blessing ceremony held on Saturday.
“It’s not a cheap project, but even with that sort of expense, we are anticipating a healthy return for our shareholders,” he added about their expectations for the investment.
Over the course of 16 months, the plan is to develop a state-of-the-art Future Energy Source Company Limited (FESCO)-branded service station that will offer a variety of services to customers, in particular those who live and work in the general area.
“What we are building here is what we like to call a new fuel experience for the people of St James,” James said.
“We are going to put a five-pump gas station, but it is more than that. We are going to have a large convenience store, particularly for the people in the area to do their shopping. We are going to have two quick service restaurants, one of them with drive through,” he added.
Space for a pharmacy will also be part of the location that will take over the intersection that connects the community of Barrett Town to the Rose Hall main road.
James explained that the partners want individuals to see the space as more than just for fuel for their vehicles.
“When you come to Vibrant Fesco, you are going to be able to come, do your shopping, you’ll be able to come and get your gas in a very efficient way, you’ll be able to feel safe, and you’ll have a very good customer experience,” he promised.
The area is home to large dormitory communities such as Rhyne Park, Barrett Town, and nearby Lilliput. It will be called Cinnamon Hill.
“Two years ago the location was introduced to us, and we just fell in love with it. We thought that given the community that’s here, this was a no-brainer to put a station here, and we have no regrets so far,” James said.
“We are FESCO and if you know about FESCO, it concerns itself with the customer and delivering the best customer experience that it can…and we believe that it’ll work for us.”
The plan for Vibrant Managers, which also includes Steven Gooden and Jeremy Barnes, will be to further grow the business to between eight to 12 locations across the island.
“Our next two build-outs will be in Kingston and St Andrew. Together, these projects will represent close to $4 billion worth of investments,” Gooden stated.
