Dream Catcher leads 16-filly field in 1000 Guineas Classic

Sixteen native-bred three-year-old fillies clash in the 1000 Guineas at Caymanas Park tomorrow, with the first Classic of the season run over one mile (1,600m) for a purse of $3.75 million.

Below is the breakdown of the 16 entrants and how they stack up.

1) LEXI LOU: (3 b f by Aveenu Malcainu – Herroyalhighness) – Showed plenty of heart in The Portmore on May 10, pressing the pace before digging in for third over 7 ½ furlongs. She couldn’t go with
Dream Catcher or Taylor Made late, but her toughness means she can’t be dismissed here.

2) AWESOME KITTY: (3 ch f by Patton Proud – Playful Kitty) – Won last time but faces much tougher here. Hard to see her doubling up.

3) MINNEHAHA: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Red Gold) – Hampered at the break in the Monday Morning Trophy on May 23, 2026, yet rallied for fourth over 7 furlongs before being promoted to third after Charming Chaterbox was disqualified. With a clean trip, expect her to be right in the mix.

4) TAYLOR MADE: (3 gr f by Aveenu Malcainu – Another Fury) – Rebounded from a poor Thornbird Stakes to run second in The Portmore. She stalked the leaders, grabbed the lead on the turn, and looked a winner until Dream Catcher blew past. That run proved she belongs at this level and she’s a serious exacta factor.

5) GIVING THANKS : (3 b f by Bern Identity – Lightning Lily) – Has underachieved so far, but has been flashing speed in morning workouts. Connections are expecting a sharp turnaround in this spot.

6) SKY IS THE LIMIT: (3 ch f by Bern Identity – Ransomewars) – Was given only an outside chance in The Portmore and ran accordingly. She was outpaced early but kept grinding to take fourth. Nothing spectacular, just another solid effort from a filly who always shows up. Worth considering for the lower slots.

7) GULFSTREAM CAT: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Burning Clearance) – Has no winning chance here.

8) CHARMING CHATERBOX: (3 b f by Successful Native – Morning Glory) – Lost third to fourth via disqualification in the Monday Morning Trophy. Looks outgunned against this group.

9) ALIYA’S WILL: (3 ch f by Hedge Fund – Crème De La) – Easy toss on current form.

10) DREAM CATCHER: (3 b f by Bern Identity – Double Jeopardy) – Absolutely demolished The Portmore field by 8 ¼ lengths in 1:34.3 for 7 ½ furlongs. She relaxed off the pace, moved into fourth on the turn, and exploded in the stretch to win going away. It was a repeat of her Thornbird Stakes demolition. Based on that, she’s the one they all have to beat in the first jewel of the Triple Crown.

11) AUSTOA: (3 b f by Sunshine N Shadow – The Lady Scored) – Will find this company too rich.

12) SOCIAL STORM: (3 b f by Aveenu Malcainu – Stormy Silana) – Made a big impression winning first time out on March 29. She’s been working strongly and has to be respected stepping into stakes company.

13) PIPA: (3 b f by Fearless Vision – Anabama Slama) – Ran sixth in The Portmore, staying in touch until the final furlong before tiring. That was only her second start, so she should improve. Don’t leave her out of trifecta plans.

14) TIA MARIA: (3 ch f by Bold Conquest – Zacapa) – Came off a layoff to finish sixth in the Monday Morning Trophy. She’ll strip fitter for that run and should be ready to make her presence felt for a top prize.

15) VICTORIOUS LINKS: (3 b f by Western Warrior – Victory Turn) – Would be a major shock if she wins.

16) ANOTHER WOW: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Sarah Barracuda) – Backers got burned in The Portmore where she went off favourite, but was never in it, trailing early and finishing well beaten. Expect a bounce-back effort. If she runs to her works, she’ll be there at the finish.
