Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), operators of Caymanas Park, has written to Caymanas Track Limited, owners of the park, seeking permission to fund a series of structural improvements.

The proposed works,estimated to cost over $70 million, are intended to address operational and infrastructure concerns in a sustainable manner and to help ensure the long-term strength and resilience of the park. This includes the rehabilitation of the well, resurfacing of the track, and restoration of the equine pool. The request forms part of SVREL’s ongoing commitment to investing in horseracing and improving the product for all stakeholders across the racing ecosystem.

“Caymanas Park is a national asset and the hub of the livelihoods of many Jamaicans. These enhancements will benefit the entire racing ecosystem and contribute to the development of the sport,” said Solomon Sharpe, SVREL executive chairman. “This request is consistent with our long-term investment strategy and our responsibility to address concerns in a way that supports the future of the industry. We remain committed to working with all stakeholders in a practical and sustainable way to improve the park and strengthen the racing product.”

Sharpe further shared that the areas identified for this investment will benefit all stakeholders. “Currently, water consumption at the park can go up to almost 100,000 gallons daily. Improving water supply at the facility is critical to daily operations and management of equine health.” He further added that the resurfacing of the racing surface and restoration of the equine pool is another step in SVREL’s broader push to maintain a high-quality racing environment for owners, trainers, jockeys, grooms, punters, and fans.

At Supreme Ventures Limited’s recent annual general meeting, it was announced that for the first time in decades, Caymanas Park ended a year in profit, a remarkable achievement the company intends to build on. The company said that the milestone demonstrates what can be accomplished when the park is managed with discipline, investment, and a clear focus on growth.

SVREL added that it remains committed to protecting that progress by continuing to improve the facility, support the racing product, and contribute to the overall development of Caymanas Park for the benefit of the entire horseracing community.
