Mailpac opens Barbican location in bid to ‘revolutionize customer experience’

Courier company Mailpac has officially opened its newest location in Barbican, St Andrew, which it says is the first in a series of strategic moves to fundamentally transform how Jamaicans interact with shipping and package collection services.

In a release on Tuesday, Mailpac said the Barbican location marks “the beginning of a bold new chapter for Jamaica’s oldest and most trusted delivery brand”.

According to the company, in an industry that has grown increasingly crowded with commoditized, one-size-fits-all services, it recognizes that the future of package delivery is not simply about getting a parcel from point A to point B, it is about embedding that experience seamlessly into the everyday lives of customers, making it more convenient, more efficient, and more cost-effective than ever before. The Barbican branch, it said, is the first expression of that vision made real.

Mailpac COO Everton Jhulur (left) and CEO Dr Mark Gonzales stand in front of the Barbican location following the launch.

“Strategically positioned within one of Kingston’s most vibrant and rapidly growing lifestyle communities, the new location sits alongside pickleball facilities, fitness and wellness spaces, and a host of everyday conveniences,” the release stated, adding “The branch is open until 7:00 PM, ensuring that customers can collect their packages on their own schedule — after work, after a workout, or after running their daily errands without ever having to rearrange their lives around a pickup window.”

Speaking on the significance of the launch, Dr Mark Gonzales, CEO of Mailpac Group, said: “What makes Mailpac unique is that we carry decades of trust and expertise into every new direction we take. We have never been a company that stands still — every few years, we look honestly at where the market is going and we evolve to meet it. The Barbican branch reflects exactly that.

“We operate in a space where too many providers offer the same thing in the same way. Our customers are busy, dynamic people, and they deserve a service that fits into their lives, not one that pulls them away from it. Barbican is the first step. Extended hours, lifestyle-driven locations, and a relentless focus on convenience, efficiency, and value — this is the direction we are moving, and we are just getting started,” Gonzales said.

The Mailpac Barbican team is ready to serve customers at the brand’s newest location.

Mailpac added that, from where locations are placed to when they are open, it is rethinking every touchpoint backed by its institutional knowledge and brand trust.

It said more announcements are expected in the coming months as it rolls out what it calls its “next generation of customer experience initiatives.”
