Reggae singer Spayde876 shines a spotlight on the dangers of fake friendships and social media deception with his new single Friend Request, featured on the Jailhouse Set Me Free Riddim Vol 1 from Symphony B Records.

The track was inspired by the disturbing rise in violent incidents linked to social media activity and location sharing.

“The concept came from what’s happening recently. Many killings have occurred because people were tracked after sharing their locations with individuals pretending to be friends,” Spayde876 explained.

Through Friend Request, he urges listeners to be cautious about who they allow into their personal space — both online and in real life.

“The message is that people should be careful who they let into their circle, whether on social media or in everyday life,” he said.

Built on the melodic reggae foundation of the Jailhouse Set Me Free Riddim Vol 1, Spayde876 deliberately chose a different creative direction to stand out.

“The rhythm has a melodic reggae feel, where almost any topic could fit, but I decided to go another route to make my song distinct,” he shared.

The recording process, he noted, was smooth and professional, with encouraging feedback already coming in from listeners worldwide.

Known for blending reggae with R&B, soul, and dancehall, Spayde876 believes his unique vocal style helps him connect with audiences.

“My style is a mixture of reggae with a little R&B, soul, and dancehall — that’s what creates my vocal identity,” he said.

Reflecting on his journey, the artiste admitted it has been marked by both triumphs and setbacks, but his determination remains strong.

“My journey has been filled with joy and disappointment. I’ve achieved some success, though not at the level I want. Still, I’m committed to working as hard as possible to get there,” he said.
