19-y-o dies in Manchester crash

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 19-year-old motorcyclist died as a result of injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash on the Logwood Mews road in Hatfield, Manchester on Tuesday.

Police named him as Andrew Williams, a resident of Hatfield in Manchester.

A police report said the crash happened about 4:30 pm in Logwood Mews, about 300 metres south of its junction with Hatfield main road, and involved a green Snypa CG200 motorcycle and a Honda motor car.

Williams was flung from the motorcycle upon impact. He was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

Statistics from the police show that up to 6:00 am on Thursday, there were 134 fatalities recorded on the nation’s roads so far this year compared to 176 for the corresponding period last year.

The latest statistics include the deaths of three men in a crash on the Braco main road in Trelawny on Wednesday night and the death of a man on the Llandovery main road in St Ann Wednesday morning in another accident.
