Father’s Day stage play draws hundreds in Christiana
CHRISTIANA, Manchester — Over 300 patrons were entertained during the drama-filled Father’s Day stage play A Yuh A Mi Fada, which highlighted the vital role of fathers in the lives of their children.
The play, conceptualised by members of the Comolashi Crew, delivered an evening of laughter and entertainment at Sacred Heart Academy School in Christiana while recognising and feting fathers.
The play’s script writers include Deneil Williams, Suzette McDonald, and Pauline Nelson, who were also members of the cast.
The remaining cast and supporting members were Shaneka Samuda, Leah Downes, Reeciana Reid, Athalia Thompson, Dervon Hendricks, Squentia Morris, Lejean Foster, and Dahni Coley.
“It started with a three-person panel; we call ourselves the Comolashi Crew. We usually do events, concerts, and role-plays within our church — the Church of the First Born. We decided to put the play on Father’s Day because traditionally Mother’s Day is always celebrated, but not much is usually done when it comes to fathers, so we decided to do something different to ensure that the fathers get stress relief, bring laughter, and encourage fathers… They are very important,” said Williams.

The preparation for the play lasted for two months and was supported by sponsors namely VPROMS, Polly’s electrical, Midway Farm Store, Jones Bargain Centre, and Price Gel.
“We got a lot of support from the local community. We noticed that Christiana doesn’t have entertainment outside of parties, it lacks family entertainment. We didn’t expect such a high turnout. We sold over 300 tickets and other people still showed at the gate,” said Williams.
Nelson said Comolashi Crew has plans to make this an annual event for families to gather and celebrate.
