SANDALS Resorts has announced the promotion of O’Brian Heron to the position of senior corporate director, operations — a strategic appointment that underscores the company’s commitment to cultivating exceptional leadership from within its ranks.

Heron will be responsible for the development and governance of frameworks, standards, systems and policies that support excellence, consistency and innovation throughout the Sandals and Beaches Resorts portfolio.

His appointment represents one of the most compelling leadership journeys within the Sandals organisation.

Having joined the company in 2003 as a trainee front office agent at Sandals Montego Bay, Heron has steadily risen through the ranks over more than two decades, serving in senior leadership roles across the Caribbean before most recently serving as general manager of Sandals South Coast.

Today, he is widely regarded as one of hospitality’s most respected executives, with expertise spanning resort operations, finance, human resources, learning and development, strategic planning, organisational transformation and change management.

Executive Chairman Adam Stewart praised Heron’s promotion as both a recognition of his remarkable achievements and a strategic investment in the future of the brand.

Throughout his career, Heron has championed collaboration, workforce development and operational excellence while helping to guide resorts and teams through periods of transformation.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Heron is an influential voice within Jamaica’s tourism sector. He currently serves as first vice-president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), chairman of the HEART/NSTA Trust Regional Advisory Group, and a member of both the HEART/NSTA Trust National Training Advisory Council and the Sandals Corporate University Advisory Board.

A justice of the peace, Heron remains deeply committed to public service, nation-building and the development of Jamaica’s future workforce.

For Heron, this appointment is the culmination of years of learning, service and collaboration with colleagues across the Sandals family.
