Jamaican (Bam Bam) hits platinum in France, gold in three other countries
Jamaican (Bam Bam), an afrobeats/house/EDM reinterpretation of Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam, which was released late last year, has been enjoying success on charts across Europe and in the United States and has been certified platinum in France.
The platinum certification, which measures 200,000 units in sales and streaming equivalent, was issued earlier this week.
The song was previously certified gold in Belgium (20,000), Mexico (70,000) and Portugal (12,000).
Produced by HUGEL and SOLTO, Jamaican (Bam Bam) was issued globally via Universal Music/Polydor.
The song has so far peaked at #88 on the UK Singles chart, #8 in France, #19 in Germany, #63 on Billboard’s Global 200, #4 on Billboard’s Global Dance Radio, #1 in Greece, #24 in Italy, #5 in Luxembourg, #9 in Netherlands, #43 in Portugal and #13 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
The original version of Bam Bam was produced by the late Winston Riley for Techniques Records and released in 1982. It went to #1 on the local charts.
