Patrons enjoy the food-inclusive experience at the 2025 staging of Milk and Honey, where curated cuisine is as much a part of the experience as the music.

Skippa, Spragga Benz and Kraff headline Best Weekend Ever series of events

Party faithfuls will have a multitude of events to attend over the independence weekend period as Best Weekend Ever takes over Ocho Rios with what promises to be seven exciting events.

Best Weekend Ever returns for its fifth staging from August 6 to 10, bringing five days, seven events and a packed itinerary of music, fashion, food and summer energy. Plantation Cove and Puerto Seco Beach will become the main ports of call for the destination entertainment experience, which will move patrons from throwback brunches and polished night-time soirées to soca, beach parties and one final send-off.

The events include Rise and Toast, Allure, I Love Soca: Cooler Festival, Daybreak, Milk and Honey, ZIMI Seh Beach and Late Check Out. Season armbands provide access to the complete weekend, which features five food-inclusive events, one food-and-drink-inclusive experience and one cooler event.

Wesley “Hits Wes” Hylton takes in the soca-fuelled atmosphere at the 2025 staging of I Love Soca: Cooler Festival, one of BWE’s most energetic experiences.

According to Best Weekend Ever Director Fabeion Dennisor, the series is a complete journey.

“Best Weekend Ever is designed as one complete journey. Every event has its own theme, soundtrack, setting and fashion identity, but together they create an experience that celebrates Jamaica, our culture and the energy of Independence Weekend,” Dennisor told Observer Online on the weekend. “We want patrons to arrive prepared, follow the themes, explore Ocho Rios and enjoy every stop along the way.”

The journey begins on Thursday, August 6, with the Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker-sponsored Rise and Toast at Plantation Cove. The premium brunch experience will blend old-school favourites with current hits, accompanied by food, cocktails and statement brunch looks. Patrons are encouraged to interpret the theme, “Old Skool Fits with New Skool Swagger”, while dancehall veteran Spragga Benz known for hit songs including She Nuh Ready Yet, Strong Performer and Dedicated, is expected to add a live musical moment to the afternoon.

Soca star Fay-Ann Lyons performs during the 2025 staging of I Love Soca: Cooler Festival, known for its high-energy performances and vibrant cooler fete atmosphere.

Later that evening, Allure takes over with Casamigos guiding the experience. Set against a safari-inspired theme, the event will bring together elevated cuisine, premium cocktails, music and fashion. Red hot dancehall artiste Skippa is slated to perform live.

On Friday, August 7, the pace shifts to soca as the Rum Stripe-sponsored I Love Soca: Cooler Festival unfolds at Plantation Cove. Patrons can expect energetic DJ sets, fete-ready fashion and a live performance from Trinidad and Tobago soca artiste Voice, who dominated playlists this past soca season with Cyah Behave.

Saturday kicks off with the Johnnie Walker-sponsored Daybreak, the breakfast party, where this year’s Western Soirée will combine cowboy-inspired fashion with an upscale brunch atmosphere.

Later that night, the Don Julio-sponsored Milk and Honey brings Regency-era glamour to Plantation Cove, where the dress code is all pink, pink and white, or all-white Bridgerton-inspired looks.

Pictured from left are Best Weekend Ever Director Fabeion Dennisor, Guinness and Diageo Spirits Brand Manager Nadine Hylton and Junior Brand Manager Lasana Wilson at the 2025 staging of BWE Milk and Honey.

On Sunday, August 9, the celebration moves to Puerto Seco Beach for the popular ZIMI Seh Beach. The event will pair a premium beach lifestyle with urban island energy, featuring high-powered DJ sets.

Best Weekend Ever culminates on Monday, August 10, with Late Check Out: Bare as You Dare with dancehall artiste Kraff slated to deliver his catalogue of hits.

Red Stripe’s Spirits Brand Manager Nadine Hylton is encouraging partygoers to balance the excitement with responsible choices.

“The best memories are made when people feel good, stay in control and look out for each other,” Hylton says. “Eat before and during the events, alternate alcoholic drinks with water, pace yourself and plan ahead. There are seven experiences to enjoy, so responsible celebration is what helps you make it through the entire journey safely.”

Dennisor added that the success of the weekend will depend on patrons embracing both the freedom and the responsibility that accompany the experience.

“We have created the setting for an unforgettable Independence Weekend, but every patron also plays a role in shaping the experience,” he said. “Come ready to celebrate, respect the venues, follow the guidelines, look out for your friends and leave Ocho Rios with nothing but great memories.”
