Former champions Rusea’s High and Munro College are among six teams that will be going after third-straight wins when the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition continues with 21 games this afternoon.

Rusea’s and Munro are off to fast starts after two comfortable wins from as many outings.

Brown’s Town High and Ferncourt High, both from Zone C, and BB Coke High and Black River High, from Zone D, will also be seeking to join them.

Rusea’s lead Zone B on goal difference over Frome Technical after both won their first two games. Rusea’s are away to Green Island High, who are coming off their first win, which was over Little London High on Tuesday.

Rusea’s have scored 14 goals, led by Xavier Bourne and Omarion Jemmison who account for four each. They will be on the hunt for more goals.

Munro spanked Belair High 9-0 on Wednesday, with Izion Frazer scoring a hat-trick and Kajaye Williams and Ravon Hooker Promston both scoring doubles. Munro will turn their attention to Mount St Joseph Catholic who have already conceded 19 goals in two games.

BB Coke and Black River will be hoping to keep pace with Munro when they on Belair High and Lewisville High, respectively.

Belair have lost both games so far, conceding 10 times in the process. BB Coke will hope to earn back-to-back second-round qualification in what is looking like a three-team race.

Black River have surprised so far and will be encouraged by their 5-1 beating of deCarteret College on Wednesday.

Brown’s Town, who lead all schools with 25 goals in two games, and face a Cedric Titus High team that is yet to win a game.

Ferncourt will be seeking to keep pace with the Zone C leaders when they take on traditional rivals York Castle High in the second game of a Drax Hall double-header.

Ferncourt and York Castle shared wins last season as both finished on 19 points. But Ferncourt grabbed the qualifying spot with a far superior goal difference.

Denbigh High opened their season with an 11-0 drubbing of Kellits High on Tuesday and will be going after consecutive wins when they face Lennon High in Zone G.

Central High are also hoping to keep their perfect win record intact when they play away to Tacius Golding High.

Herbert Morrison Technical, who are on four points, can take over the lead in Zone A when they host St James High, who will be going after a second-straight win.

Irwin High lead with six points after back-to-back wins, but will be inactive this afternoon.

Cambridge High and Muschett High will also be seeking their first win when they meet at Jarrett Park

Discovery Bay High, who started playing in the competition in 2022 and have missed just one season since, will be seeking their first win when they play newcomers Walkerswood Academy in the first game at Drax Hall.

The teams have combined to concede 39 goals. Discovery Bay have scored once, which was in a 1-10 loss to Marcus Garvey Technical.
