Exercising cool judgment, Anderson steadily crept his mount into striking position behind the early pace set by Four Thirty (Emelio McLean). As the field swung around the home bend, Anderson launched his bid, swinging four-wide with a surging Nebuchadnezzar full of run.

He quickly swallowed up the early leaders, but the fight was far from over. Slam Sharp, ridden by Raddesh Roman, came forward to pose a fierce threat and briefly took the lead in a dramatic mid-stretch duel.With victory hanging in the balance, Anderson extracted one final rally from his mount.

Digging deep in the dying strides, Nebuchadnezzar thrust his nose ahead at the wire to snatch victory. The winning time was 1:29.3. Early splits were 24.0, 47.3, and 1:15.1.
