AS anticipation continues to build for the staging of Runci Rules on Friday, September 18 at the Students’ Union on the campus of The University of the West Indies, Mona, the organisers are promising a high-energy experience for patrons.

Chancellor Hall Block Representative Andre Morgan told the Jamaica Observer that students can expect this staging of Runci Rules to be different from previous years.

“[N]ot only because of the venue change and overall production, but also the dynamics of this year’s staging. This year we’re bringing together a stronger blend of soca and dancehall, with DJs and entertainers who can cater to different crowds while keeping the energy high throughout the night. So, most definitely, expect the madness, the energy, the vibes, and a crowd that’s ready to ‘shell’… The goal is not simply to have people attend a party, but to give them an experience they’ll remember,” he charged.

Under the theme Dubai Fiesta, this Friday is about taking what people already know and love about Runci Rules and pushing it even higher.

The vibes kick off at 9:00 pm and runs until 2:00 am.

DJs Heatwave, Tucker Fresh, Stone, Hibby, Breze, Zess and JJ Deadlock and Fyahman will provide party music to keep patrons entertained.

Joshua McNab, deputy block representative for Chancellor Hall, spoke about the theme.

“Dubai Fiesta came directly from the type of experiences we want our supporters and patrons to have. A fiesta is all about celebration, freedom, colour, music, energy, and letting loose — and that’s exactly the atmosphere we want to create. We wanted a theme that felt bigger, more exciting, and more immersive than a regular party. The Dubai influence adds that sense of luxury, scale, and spectacle, while the fiesta element keeps the event rooted in that raw, high-energy party atmosphere. So, Dubai Fiesta isn’t just the name for the event, it’s the experience we’re trying to create. From the visuals and branding to the music, venue, atmosphere, and overall production, everything is being designed to make patrons feel like they’ve stepped into something different,” McNab explained.

Runci Rules is held annually on the third Friday in September.
