GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Former West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin has been chosen to lead a West Indies side in next month’s International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s 45-over World Cup.

The Cricket West Indies Masters Association announced a 14-man squad over the weekend that also includes former West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, to take part in the October 17 to 31 tournament in Guyana.

The team will be managed by Rajendra Sadeo, with Julian Moore named as coach and Surendra Seeraj as assistant coach.

The 41-year-old Ramdin played 74 Tests and 139 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for the regional side, and along with Sarwan, 46, who featured in 87 Tests and 181 ODIs, join several other ex-West Indian players including Rayad Emrit, Sewnarine Chattergoon and Jason Mohammed.

West Indies have been placed in Group A and will open their campaign against Australia at the National Stadium in Providence.

They will be joined in Group A by Namibia, Canada, Wales, defending champions South Africa, Sri Lanka and Colombia.

Meanwhile, Group B includes England, New Zealand, USA, Pakistan, India, Scotland, the rest of the World XI and the rest of the Caribbean XI.

The two top teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals before the finalists face off at Providence.
