Dancehall artiste Dae Tyme is hoping to connect with listeners through relatable storytelling on his latest single Crazy World.

Released on August 25, along with an accompanying music video, the track explores some of the realities and challenges the entertainer observes in everyday life.

“There are so many situations that people experience and can relate to, so I wanted to put some of those realities into the music and tell the story from my perspective,” Dae Tyme told the Jamaica Observer.

Born Omar Dixon, Dae Tyme was raised in Spanish Town before relocating to St Ann. His interest in music developed from an early age, eventually taking his talent more seriously.

“Music has always been something that I’ve been passionate about. Growing up, I was always drawn to it, and by the time I was in high school I started exploring that passion and thinking about pursuing music as a career,” he shared.

In 2020, Dae Tyme began recording professionally and also established his YouTube channel, Dae Tyme Muziq, as he sought to build an audience for his work.

The artiste said the response to Crazy World has been encouraging, noting that its relatable subject matter has helped the song gain traction.

“The response has been good so far, and I think a big part of that is because people can relate to what I’m talking about. These are real situations and experiences, so when people listen to the song, they can see parts of their own lives or what is happening around them reflected in it,” he explained.

Known for his versatility and lyricism, Dae Tyme has been steadily expanding his catalogue with songs including Waah Live, Trapped, Redemption, Speed Off, and Time Fly.

While he continues to work towards greater recognition, the entertainer considers his ability to reach listeners and establish his own following among his biggest accomplishments to date.

“For me, one of the biggest accomplishments has been knowing that my music and my message are reaching people in different places. I’m also proud of the fact that I’ve been able to gradually build my own fan base. It takes time, but seeing people connect with the music motivates me to keep going,” he said.

Among his future goals is a collaboration with dancehall star Vybz Kartel, whose artistry he has admired.

“Vybz Kartel is someone I grew up listening to, and I’ve always admired his lyrical ability, creativity, and overall approach to the art. He has a very distinctive way of expressing himself through music, so a collaboration with him would definitely be something I’d welcome,” Dae Tyme said.

With Crazy World now released, the artiste is already focused on adding new material to his growing catalogue. He revealed that he currently has two projects in the works, including an upcoming release titled Clean Step.

Ultimately, Dae Tyme hopes to continue using authentic Jamaican experiences as the foundation for his music while growing his presence locally and internationally.

“My focus is on continuing to develop as an artiste, putting out good music, and reaching more people. I want to keep building my fan base and create music that listeners can connect with, while establishing my own identity and space in dancehall,” he said.
