ST CATHERINE-BASED distribution company Sunshine Snacks Jamaica has reinforced its commitment to youth football development, sports and community-based initiatives across Jamaica with a combined investment of $2 million to each of the youth programmes of the Waterhouse Football Club and Montego Bay Football Club.

The official sponsorship handover for Waterhouse Football Club took place recently.

Sunshine Snacks Brand Manager Danielle Howe emphasised that youth development is at the centre of the company’s decision to support both football clubs.

“Our decision to support the Montego Bay United youth programme was a natural extension of Sunshine Snacks’s existing relationship with the club at the senior level. Beyond that established partnership we were particularly impressed by the structure and depth of the club’s youth development programme, which introduces children to football from as early as four years old and provides a clear pathway for their continued development.”

Howe added: “The programme also creates opportunities for young players to gain broader exposure through relationships with international football clubs, giving promising talent access to experiences and opportunities beyond the local game. Supporting the youth programme therefore allows us to strengthen an existing partnership while investing at the earliest stages of player development.”

The brand manager also spoke about the collaboration with Waterhouse FC.

“Our partnership with Waterhouse FC gives us an opportunity to support youth football development within Kingston and further expand the geographic reach of our investment in the sport. Waterhouse has a long-standing presence in Jamaican football and a strong tradition within the country’s top flight competition, making the club an important part of Jamaica’s football landscape. We wanted to partner with an established programme that is actively developing young talent within this area of the island. Supporting Waterhouse allows Sunshine Snacks to contribute to that development at the community level while complementing our investment in Montego Bay and our wider involvement in Jamaican football.”

According to Howe, both partnerships reinforce her company’s commitment to support from the grass roots level to the national stage.

“Together, the two partnerships allow Sunshine Snacks to support youth football development across different areas of the island while working with clubs that have established programmes, strong football traditions, and clear pathways for young players. It also complements our existing involvement in senior football and allows us to contribute to the development of the sport from the grass roots level through to the national stage,” said Howe.
