Beaches Negril brings inspiration, and possibility to Women’s Centre

ENTERTAINMENT division manager of Beaches Negril Orville Whyte shared a message of resilience and possibility with participants during an orientation session at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

Drawing from his journey, Whyte spoke about some of the challenges he faced growing up, including behavioural struggles and how finding an opportunity within the Sandals Resorts brand helped change the direction of his life.

Joining the company shortly after leaving high school, he was given the opportunity to develop his skills, grow within the organisation, and eventually pursue further education funded by the company, an investment that helped shape his journey to becoming a leader in entertainment at Beaches Negril.

His message to the young women was simple but powerful, “Never give up on yourself, life can change in an instant and the circumstances you face today do not have to determine where you end up tomorrow.”

For the young women beginning a new chapter through the Women’s Centre, Whyte’s story offered a real-life reminder that a difficult beginning does not mean a difficult ending, and sometimes, one opportunity can change everything.

For Whyte, it was also an opportunity to remind them that learning, growth and personal development can happen in unexpected and enjoyable ways.
