Clarendon, Munro record wins in daCosta Cup

Former champions Clarendon College and munro College recorded wins over Manchester High and defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STeTHS), respectively, in Wednesday’s round of matches in the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition.

Clarendon beat Manchester 1-0 in Mandeville for the second time this season to take the lead in Group 5 with six points. They had also beaten Manchester in the Ben Francis Cup quarter-finals.

At Munro College, the hosts beat rivals STETHS 2-1 to join Frome Technical at the top of Group 1 on six points each. Nicosi Fonsette converted a penalty for Munro, while Kajaye Williams scored the other goal.

McGrath High and Ocho Rios High also recorded consecutive wins in Group 4, beating Titchfield High and Dinthill Technical, respectively.

Jim Mitchell scored four goals for McGrath in their 7-0 thrashing of Titchfield, while Alex Williams, Joshua Wilson, and Romario Williams scored one goal each.

Ocho Rios beat Dinthill 2-0 at Drax Hall to join McGrath on six points.

At Jarrett Park, Omarion Jemmison scored twice to lead Rusea’s High to a 2-0 win over St James High, who suffered consecutive defeats in the round. Jemmison opened the scoring in the 16th minute before securing the win with his second goal in the 87th minute. Rusea’s rebounded from a 2-1 defeat to Mannings School a week earlier.

William Knibb Memorial also bounced back from their loss to Brown’s Town, recording a 2-1 come-from-behind win over 10-man Cornwall College in Martha Brae.

Glenmuir High were held to a 0-0 draw by Central High in a May Pen derby, while Denbigh High beat Knox College 2-1 at Kirkvine Sports Club.
