Jamaica Observer O-TEAM blazes in Mandeville
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The O-TEAM rolled into south-central Jamaica for the second stop of its Parish Invasion Road Tour on Monday, taking energy, vibes, and surprises to Cecil Charlton Park through the Jamaica Observer’s print, online, radio, and social media platforms.
Managing director of the Jamaica Observer Media Group Dominic Beaubrun said the O-TEAM has been evolving to cater to consumers on new media platforms while maintaining its foundation in traditional media.
“We want to demonstrate the strength of the brands in a unified manner as part of the Jamaica Observer Media Group. We know we have strength in terms of the JOL [ Jamaica Observer Limited] brand. We know we have good social media backing. We know we have a very strong radio presence in Fyah 105 FM and Edge 105.1 and 105.3 FM,” said Beaubrun.
He said the aim of the road tour is to take the brands as a vessel into communities “as a caravan to showcase the brands themselves and keep touch points around the Jamaican landscape where our audience is generated and gathered. We can demonstrate how we get to them in segment forms, platforms, and individual brand forms, and I think that is most important.”
Beaubrun was also pleased with the continued warm reception and turnout from listeners, readers, and viewers at the two stops so far — Mandela Park and the Cecil Charlton Park.
“There is an excitement in anticipation of each stop with the pre-promotion. Once we get to the locations, the people are blown away, because they realise that Burgerman is here, Bambino is here, Ron Muschette is here, and all the team members in terms of all of the different personalities that we have and the strength of the Observer brand as the foundation platform upon which all others stand, so it is very important and a result we want to recognise the brands themselves and people embrace the personalities who represent these brands,” he explained.
Among the partners for the O-TEAM’s Parish Invasion Road Tour are Flow, Tru-Milk, Sunshine Snacks, Devon Biscuits, GK ONE, GK Money Sense, T Geddes Grant Limited, Nupak, and Pillar of Health Clinic Limited.
Dr Camila Gonzales, chief executive officer of Pillar of Health, said scores of patrons at Monday’s event benefited from free eye testing.
Meanwhile, Sheraine Campbell Bro w n , GraceKennedy Financial Group’s head of digital marketing and customer experience, said she was encouraged by the interest of consumers in the GK One mobile app.
“[It] is an amazing app… We are now launching a new feature called top ups for Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) smart fare cards, toll tags, and mobile credit with no fees. GK has been in Mandeville with our locations here, First Global Bank, GK Insurance, so we have always been bringing our services to where the people are,” she said.
Monday’s tour was also filled with jubilant patrons who turned up at Cecil Charlton Park to meet the O-TEAM personalities.
“I came to see Burgerman, Ron Muschette, DJ Lizzerz and DJ Stuggie, Kesi, because I wanted to meet them in person. I listen to Edge every day because what happened I was looking for Ron Muschette and then further on in the day I heard Burgerman, so I just continued listening. I came here to Mandeville from Coleyville in north Manchester. Today is my day off, so I had to be here to meet everyone,” said Tanica Coote.
The next stop on the Parish Invasion Road Tour will be Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay, today.
