Sizzla, Chronic Law among acts for Smooth Thoughts rhythm

After two years of planning and production, eastern entertainment Promotions is gearing up for the release of its latest musical project, Smooth Thoughts rhythm, on Friday, October 16.

The project features an impressive line-up of established and emerging dancehall acts, including Sizzla, Chronic Law, Skippa, Nation Boss, Silk Boss, Shawn Storm, Karnage, Hot Turbine, Lisa Hyper, and Krish Fullforce.

According to Judah Nugent, of Eastern Entertainment Promotions, the rhythm represents another milestone for the entertainment company, which has spent the past 14 years contributing to Jamaica’s music and entertainment landscape.

“It took us approximately two years to complete the project. One of the main factors was the availability of some of the artistes, as everyone has their own schedules and professional commitments,” Nugent explained.

“Coordinating the different artistes and ensuring that everything came together took time, but we remained committed to seeing the project through. We believe good things take time, and we are excited to finally share Smooth Thoughts rhythm with the world,” he added.

Eastern Entertainment Promotions serves as executive producer of the project, overseeing its development, artiste coordination, and overall production. Nugent said the decision to assemble such a diverse line-up was deliberate, as the team wanted to capture different musical styles and perspectives while maintaining a cohesive sound.

“We wanted to bring together a diverse group of artistes, each with their own style, personality and musical identity. Every artiste brings something different to the rhythm, and that variety allows listeners to experience different perspectives and expressions within one cohesive project,” he said.

While dancehall rhythms are often associated with Chronic Law high-energy entertainment, Nugent explained that Smooth Thoughts rhythm was conceptualised to offer listeners a more reflective musical experience.

“The name Smooth Thoughts really speaks for itself. This is the type of project you can sit back with, relax, spend time with your thoughts, and genuinely resonate with each track,” he shared. “Music is not always just about dancing and having a good time; it can also be about personal experiences, reflection, and connecting with something that speaks to you.”

Adding to the excitement surrounding Friday’s release will be the world première of Chronic Law’s official music video for Streets, which will debut on the same day.

Nugent explained that the coordinated releases form part of a wider promotional strategy aimed at generating greater visibility for the project and encouraging listeners to explore the contributions of the other artistes.

“Chronic Law has a strong connection with dancehall audiences, and we believe the video première will generate excitement and help draw attention to the wider rhythm project,” he said. “Pairing the two releases gives fans more than one reason to engage with the music on the day. Our intention is to create a coordinated release moment that encourages people to watch the video, discover the rhythm, explore the other tracks, and support all the artistes involved.”

Founded in 2012, Eastern Entertainment Promotions has established a presence in Jamaica’s entertainment industry through event staging and music production. Its previous musical projects include Heaven Gates rhythm.

For Nugent, the latest release underscores the company’s commitment to creating opportunities for Jamaican entertainers while expanding its reach beyond the island.

He is particularly hopeful that Smooth Thoughts rhythm will attract international attention and enjoy longevity in an increasingly competitive music industry. “We want the project to receive strong support from fans, DJs, radio personalities, streaming audiences and the wider music industry.

We also hope it creates greater exposure for the artistes involved and opens doors to new opportunities for everyone who contributed to making it happen,” he said. “Ultimately, we want the rhythm to have longevity. We do not want it to be something people listen to only on release day. We want listeners to keep returning to it, discovering their favourite tracks and sharing the music with others.”

The project is expected to be available across major digital streaming platforms, subject to final distribution arrangements.

Meanwhile, Eastern Entertainment Promotions is also preparing for the 12th staging of its signature event, Eastern Extravaganza, scheduled for New Year’s Day, January 1, 2027.

Nugent said the event remains an important part of the company’s journey, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
