Shaggy drops global Boom Body Shatta remix with Shaz
Grammy Award-winning reggae and dancehall artiste Shaggy has given his hit single Boom Body an international edge with a newly released remix by three-times diamond-certified French producer and DJ Shaz, reworking the track through the high-energy sound of Shatta.
The single dropped on Friday, October 2 via Ranch Entertainment and VP Records.
Originally featuring Akon and Aidonia, Boom Body already brought together reggae, dancehall, and global influences.
On this official remix, Shaz pushes the record further into the electronic dance space, combining traditional dancehall rhythms with the fast-paced, club-driven energy that defines the Shatta genre.
Shaz has masterfully bridged the worlds of international hip hop, trap, and Caribbean music. This collaboration seamlessly unites him with Aidonia and Shaggy, adding to an impressive cross-cultural catalogue that includes major production work for top-tier Jamaican chart-toppers like Skillibeng.
By continuously integrating with Jamaica’s elite music makers, Shaz has solidified his reputation as a premier global sound engineer capable of accelerating authentic dancehall rhythms straight into European and American club circuits.
Inspired in part by the influence of Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, the Shatta sound has developed into a growing global movement blending electronic production, dancehall, and Caribbean influences.
Artistes, including Kybba, Blaiz Fayah, and Kalash, have helped bring the sound to wider international audiences, particularly across Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.
“Dancehall has always been a global sound, and I like hearing how producers from different parts of the world interpret it. Shaz brought a whole different energy to
Boom Body. The Shatta sound gives the record another life while keeping that dancehall foundation,” Shaggy said in a statement.
The remix continues Shaggy’s long-standing tradition of taking Jamaican music into new spaces while collaborating with artistes and producers across cultures and genres, with Shaz bringing a French and European electronic perspective to the record.
