Mount Pleasant FA will be hoping to extend their winning run when they face Arnett Gardens in a rescheduled first-round game in the Legend Jamaica Premier League at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex today, starting at 7:00 pm.

Mount Pleasant are seventh in the standings on 10 points from six games, one point and one place ahead of Arnett Gardens. A third-straight win would lift the St Ann club into fifth place.

Mount Pleasant made a poor start to the season, losing their first two games, but have since gone unbeaten in four matches, winning three and drawing the other to move within a point of the top six.

The St Ann club, which boasts an expensively assembled squad, has scored seven goals during that unbeaten run but faces an Arnett Gardens team also hoping to challenge for the title.

Theodore Whitmore’s team has several attacking options, with Daniel Green scoring both goals in their 2-1 win over Molynes United on Monday, a week after Warner Brown scored twice in a similar victory over Montego Bay United.

National Under-20 international Giovanni Taylor has been a standout for Arnett Gardens this season, scoring six goals, while Jamone Shepherd has added three. Both will be important to their team’s hopes of ending Mount Pleasant’s winning run.

In the other game today, defending champions Portmore United will host Treasure Beach FC in another rescheduled first-round fixture at Ferdie Neita Sports Complex, starting at 3:00 pm.

Portmore have drawn their last four games, including Sunday’s match against Montego Bay United, when they came from behind twice against a team reduced to 10 players. They also missed a penalty.

Treasure Beach are coming off their first win of the season after edging Racing United 4-3 at Ferdie Neita Sports Complex. Daniel Hardy scored a hat-trick in that victory and will be hoping to maintain his scoring form against a Portmore defence that will present a tougher test.
