Why we prefer dating older men
When you spot a young woman with an older man, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Usually there’s the assumption that he’s a sugar daddy, and she’s using him to gain financial benefits.
But the women below say otherwise — they say sometimes the benefits are more than financial, and the preference for more mature company trumps all others.
Rachael, 30:
What I have found from personal experience is that older men can teach you a thing or two when it comes to life. And sometimes that’s what a girl needs — a little guidance. These young boys nowadays are just themselves learning, so they have nothing to teach me.
Marissa, 32:
Older men are more sexually mature and so are better able to initiate you more into this whole love thing. They are less likely to overreact if something should go wrong and are more patient as you learn and grow and come into your own as a sexual being.
Sarah, 33:
An older man can also provide financial advice which, to tell you the truth, is quite handy especially in times like these. As he is more likely to be established, he is also more likely to be able to offer some support.
Georgette, 37:
‘A young boy’s fool, an old man’s sweetheart’, is what my mother used to say. All these young guys want to do is party from sunrise to sunset. Young guys have to be out and about; people have to be seeing them. It’s like they can’t stay home.
Marie, 37:
I find that older men are less likely to be jealous in that they are less likely to assume. The young guys are too quick to judge. An older guy is more likely to be in tune with my emotions.
Dana, 35:
Sometimes when you pick up a man it’s like you pick up a baby. When you get an older guy, he is at a certain stage where you don’t have to be holding his hand and reassuring him that you are his one and only and that you are not cheating on him with anyone else.
