LAST Wednesday, the all-female Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) held their awards ceremony in commemoration of their 26th anniversary. The ceremony sought to recognise media houses and corporate entities that have supported the club in its ventures over the past year as well as the club’s officers, directors, chairmen and co-chairmen. Of the 17 media awards, the Jamaica Observer copped eight, with three going to All Woman editor Petulia Clarke and writers Penda Honeyghan and Kimberley Hibbert. Senior Associate Editor for Lifestyle and Social Content, Novia McDonald Whyte; Associate Editor for features, Kimone Thompson; Teenage Observer writer Devaro Bolton, and Advertising Marketing and Communications manager Natalie Chin Watkins were also awarded. A separate award was given to Hibbert for her coverage of the club’s Young Children Priority One (YCPO) programme. Three awards went to the Gleaner Company, one each to Nationwide, Kool 93FM, Television Jamaica’s Smile Jamaica programme, Visual Vibes, Loop News, and one independent media worker.
