Those fad diets
Quite a few of us want to lose a few pounds here or there and are willing to try every new diet that hits the airwaves. Are you guilty of having tried a fad diet at some point in your life?
As I did some research on weight loss diets for my own personal journey, I came across a few fad diets that I found to be a bit out of the ballpark and wondered if people really tried them.
1. The military diet, or the three-day diet: This 1,500 a day calorie diet claims that you can lose up to 10 pounds a week.
2. The five-bite diet: Eat whatever you want, but only five bites of it.
3. The werewolf diet: Also called the lunar diet, this one is simply fasting according to the lunar calendar.
4. The baby food diet: Dieters replace breakfast and lunch with about 14 jars of baby food.
5. The Sleeping Beauty diet: If you’re asleep, you’re not eating.
6. The tapeworm diet: This requires you to ingest a tapeworm, let the tapeworm eat the food you consume once it gets to your intestines, and then, when you lose enough weight, get a doctor to prescribe you an anti-worm medication.
The bottom line is that these quick fix diets are just what they are – a quick fix as they offer no long term benefits in weight loss and aren’t necessarily the best way to lose weight. The best way to lose weight is by eating healthy and exercising.
