Smart Fabulous and Single conference takes off
CAMPION COLLEGE was the venue last Saturday for ‘Smart Fabulous & Single’ — a conference designed to empower single women through thought-provoking sessions aimed at inspiring participants how to be better versions of themselves.
Tricia-Anne Morris, conceptualiser of the conference, said it was the negative effects that she suffered in an abusive relationship that motivated her when she realised how much she had changed for the worse.
“I was no longer the vibrant, fun-loving friend, daughter, and leader I knew myself to be. I was staring this new ugly me in the face, and the Lord showed me that what’s inside me was greater than my circumstances, weaknesses and fears. He charged me to get up out of my mess. So I got up and was deliberate about my healing process. I wrote a book and started a blog community — all because I wanted to share with other women what I had learnt,” she said, adding that subsequently she decided to register her business where she would offer coaching, consultation, and events which revolved around empowering others.
She said the conference was the perfect opportunity to do this, because being single and having single friends, she realised a major concern was that there was no activity that specifically targeted them.
Apart from the different speakers who presented on various topics — such as creating powerful relationships, getting noticed in the workplace, creating a fabulous, healthy you, overcoming the giants in our lives, chasing what matters, and a male panel discussion surrounding what a man wants — a scholarship worth US$1,000 was awarded to a single woman to pursue a diploma in soft skills from Vigeo Academy.
Morris added that going forward the scholarship will be awarded to single women with children.
