7 harmful beliefs to crush right now
Belief kills and belief cures, and what’s ingrained in your mind can have repercussions for how you deal with life events.
Here are some beliefs that you should do away with, if you want to live your best life possible.
1. You are your past
No! Your past is a journey of events that took place before your present, and whether your experiences were good or bad, they don’t define or confine you. You are not tied to your past in any way unless you allow yourself to be. Use your past to push you in a positive direction, build on that, and expand your potential.
2. A leopard never changes its spots
All lies! All it takes is a decision to change and that’s it!
3. You need a partner and money to be happy
No, you really don’t. Yes, these things contribute to your happiness, but true happiness comes from accepting yourself, and this cannot be bought. Money can afford you material things, but things don’t bring fulfillment.
4. Success is not working hard, but working smart
Our generation has been taught to believe that if we can plug in a formula into a computing system, we can have an invention and ultimate success. There is some truth to this; however, success is for those who have laboured.
5. “I am too old for …”
Once you breathe air, you can achieve anything. Age is not a limiting factor. The only limitation before you is you.
6. You are selfish if you are self-centered
Absolutely negative! You have to ensure you are full before you can pour into someone else. You are indeed a limited resource which means you cannot give to the world and forsake your needs. Give to you first.
7. “Suzie/Roger is better than me”
Shut that thought off immediately. Man was created equal, and yes, some may climb the social ladder a lot faster than you, and even have possessions you can only dream of, but this doesn’t make them better than you or anyone else.
