Men share their regrets this past year, and what they hope to accomplish for the year ahead
REGRETS — we all have them, the one thing we wish we could go back in time and do or say differently. But while we have no control over the wrongful or embarrassing things of the past, as the new year approaches people will reconcile with their mistakes, and pledge to change. And below seven men share what they intend to change and/or accomplish in their quest to better themselves.
Jason, 23, student:
I always try to create the atmosphere that I want, hence I don’t think I have regrets. I think, however, that I may have made a bad decision buying a car, but I don’t regret it. Well, for the New Year I just want to finish school and position myself to start my career and businesses.
Kemis, 34, sales representative:
I wish that I had saved more this year, but I want more than anything to be in a position to help more people because that is my greatest joy.
Delroy, 53, truck driver:
I regret that I made a bad investment that caused me to lose my truck because of my stubbornness. This coming year I will work on being less ignorant and valuing the opinion of my wife more. I also want to work on getting back a truck for myself and I also want to purchase a second house so that we can rent it and use it for extra revenue.
Garrique, 29, police officer:
For 2018 I regret delaying my actions as it relates to acquiring a house. I’ll push harder to achieve this objective soon, especially with the climbing prices of houses. I also regret not seeing my friends and relatives as often as did before; I don’t want to wait for bad news to go to see them. I also regret not completing my degree. I intend to get the ball rolling on that so that I can place myself on the right track to achieve more.
Clement, 47, businessman:
I regret cheating on my pregnant girlfriend and passing a STD to her which could have hurt her and our unborn child. I also regret causing her so much pain at a time when she was depending on me. This New Year I want to be a much better man and father. I also want to help my girlfriend to expand her business and I want to gain enough knowledge to get my slice of the pie in the construction business.
Jovis, 26, soldier:
I regret not spending every single moment with my daughter since she arrived because I have been so busy. For the coming year I am getting things in place to make more money because a nuff people mi waan bless. In particular, I want to have more than enough to bless most of the needy children I know.
Leon, 42, contractor:
I regret that I made my babymother’s ignorance get in the way of my relationship with my children. Our relationship was really, really bad this year and my kids suffered because of it. For the New Year, I am making peace with their mother for their sake, because no child should have to suffer. I will also be setting up accounts towards their college education because their future is the most important thing to me. I also want to finish up my house so that I can have my children visit more often.
