Hardy Beads
I n the same way the caterpillar achieves full metamorphosis from its chrysalis, so too has 21 year-old Toni-Ann Hardy, principal of Khrysalis Jewellery Supply Company, broken free from her own set of constraints to position her jewellery line to become an income generating business.
Her journey started in 2016 as an 18 year old sixth former at St Jago High School. Hardy was forced to eke out a living when her family was dealt a serious financial blow. Her creativity and love for jewellery, compounded with her desire to obtain verifiable economic needs, led to the birth of her very own company.
Hardy admitted to All Woman Fashion ( AWF) that though the journey wasn’t easy, it has been a rewarding one.
“My biggest issues in the beginning were that people didn’t understand why a church girl was making jewellery, and my dad feared I was putting too much passion into this,” she told AWF. “However, I loved learning to create things and designing new accessories that made people smile as they felt an attachment to a piece. My father also changed his perspective and is now building me a workroom, so I think I’m good,” she said with a chuckle.
All designs are handmade and Hardy insists that no two pieces are the same. Inspiration comes from meditation or from her immediate surroundings.
