Aidonia red-hot!
Dancehall sensation Aidonia took to the Campari Carnival stage and delivered not one, but two sensational performances at the first staging of Campari Boulevard, held on Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston, as trucks from Carnival Mas bands Xodus and YardMas rolled by.
At 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm, on the instruction of Bishop Escobar, not only did the Campari King of Carnival trucks halt, but Aidonia used the opportunity to run onto Campari Boulevard and unleash his hit singles Yeah Yeah, Hot Tool, Fi Di Jockey, and Nuh Boring Gyal, amidst the gyrating crowd during the island’s Carnival Sunday festivities.
Pavel Smith, marketing manager, J Wray & Nephew Limited, noted that the performance from the Campari’s brand ambassador was well-received.
“Aidonia is a well-respected artiste, and although patrons and revellers came out to have a wonderful time marching to the many soca hits we all love, as Jamaicans, Dancehall is in our blood. It comes naturally to us, and we enjoyed his performance, not once, but twice,” Smith said.
“His performance brought a major difference to the Jamaica Carnival experience this year,” he added.
Like the hundreds of patrons who witnessed this dancehall performance during the massive soca event, it was also a first for Aidonia. The dancehall artiste said the 2023 road march experience was his very first full-length experience, and will become a staple on his annual calendar of events going forward.
He credits the Campari team for being an eye-opener and convincing him that soca events hold a space for him to dominate and show his versatility as an artiste.
