Gang feud behind Meadowrest shooting: two people dead
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Two people are dead in what police say is an ongoing gang feud that played out at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine on Tuesday afternoon.
A woman, identified as Shanice Dean, 27, was shot dead and three other people injured, when gunmen attacked a group of mourners at the burial park.

One of the injured, a male, who is still unidentified, subsequently succumbed to his injuries. Up to a short while ago, police were still at the burial park conducting investigations.
This was confirmed by Cleon March, the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Crime, who said the gun attack stemmed from a gang war.
“We are theorising that this is a spill over from a gang feud and was carried out by gangsters in Seaview Gardens,” Acting ACP March told OBSERVER ONLINE.
He said the gunmen’s intended target is a relative of the woman for whom the memorial service was held. He said the police are reaching out to this person to come in so things can be put in place for his/her safety.
Reports are that about 1:00 pm, mourners were at the parking lot of the burial ground when gunmen opened fire on the group. At least four people were shot and rushed to the hospital where Dean was pronounced dead.
