In the world of Emergency Management it pays to be prepared, accessible and operational while on the move. My necessary luxuries reflect this view. My tablet laptop with all its bells and whistles allows me to meet reporting deadlines, watch movies and make awesome presentations while at the same time supporting the green industry when I use it as my digital paper. My Swiss Army Knife helps me channel my inner McGyver, not that I have ever been in a bind, but it’s comforting to know that if I do, I have the right tool for the job.

As the Director General or CEO, you constantly have to be signing and, as such, it’s important to have a pen that glides across the paper giving your signature that majestic look. As someone who is always on the go with numerous daily appointments, it pays to keep track of the time. As they say, time is money so it most definitely pays to have a great timepiece as a necessity.

When I travel, it is important to have some creature comforts and if you like music the way I do, then it is reasonable to expect that your travel kit will contain an iPod Touch. That way you get music, videos, movies and family pictures at your fingertips.

Last, but not least, is my BlackBerry Bold. It is my diary, my mini notebook, my mobile office address book, recreational tool… you name it. It helps keep my productivity levels high as I am able to access and act on business mail on the go here or abroad.
