KINGSTON, Jamaica — National female cyclist Llori Sharpe was injured after being hit from her bike by a motorist during a training session along the Spanish Town by-pass on Wednesday morning.

In a press release, Jamaica Cycling said Sharpe, who is in her second year with USA Team L39ion, sustained a fractured scapula (shoulder blade) and bruises in the incident. She was treated at hospital and later released.

Her bicycle was also badly damaged and deemed irreparable, the release stated.

Sharpe had been preparing for the end to the 2025 season, according to Jamaica Cycling, noting that she was scheduled to compete in criterium races in St Louis, Maryland, and Pennsylvania next week, followed by the Tour De BIM in Barbados from September 25–28. She was also set to defend her title at the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Belize from October 9–13.

Sharpe, who secured silver in 2023 and gold in 2024 at the Caribbean Championships, remains one of the favourites going into this year’s edition.

The event also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

Sharpe is being monitored by her consulting physician who is confident that she will recover soon enough to resume training ahead of the Caribbean Championships, Jamaica Cycling said.
