Cop seen in viral video allegedly assaulting elderly man interdicted
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says the Inspectorate and Professional Oversight Bureau (IPROB) is investigating an incident where a police officer was seen in a viral video in a physical confrontation with an elderly man in Tawes Pen, St Catherine.
The JCF in an update on Sunday said the officer has been placed on interdiction pending the outcome of the investigation.
“The JCF does not condone any form of misconduct or abuse of authority by its members, and the actions portrayed in the video do not reflect the professional standards and core values upheld by the organisation,” the JCF said.
The JCF said updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
