Flawless Tessanne
JAMAICAN vocalist Tessanne Chin delivered another of her signature powerhouse performances last night as she sought to earn one of the three spots in next Tuesday’s finals of NBC’s televised talent show The Voice.
Chin’s coach Adam Levine chose the iconic ballad Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, which she handled with aplomb. Her vocals soared through Universal Studios in Los Angeles, where the competition is staged, and left her coach speechless.
“That was crazy what we just saw there,” Levine declared after composing himself. “The sheer talent leaves me speechless and I am not often left without words on this show, but I am so amazed by what just happened… That is the most flawless and graceful performance I have seen on this show.”
Fellow coach Blake Shelton could only concur with Levine when asked to comment on Chin’s performance.
“It’s hard to argue with the comments of a competing judge, but I have to agree with Adam… I am such a big fan, that was a great performance,” said Shelton.
Chin poured a tonne of emotion into her performance of the classic tune and, in a pre-recorded video vignette, stated that she could see the finish line and was now ready to take on the challenge.
As usual, Chin took to Twitter immediately following the performance and urged her fans to vote.
“Please vote and please buy the single on iTunes I love you all and thank you for an amazing night!!,” she tweeted.
The other singers in the competition all put in credible performances last night. The night’s opening act James Wolpert delivered U2’s With or Without You, Will Champlin did Carry On by Fun, the baby of the group 16-year-old Jacquie Lee performed Angel by Sarah McLachlan, and the bearded one Cole Vosbury offered Shameless by Garth Brooks.
The top three finalists will be known tonight during the live results show.
