JLP says protocol responsible for delay in publishing new Cabinet list
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) cabinet minister designate, Kamina Johnson Smith, last night blamed the delay in the publication of the list of Cabinet ministers to be sworn in today on protocol.
“There is a protocol between the King’s House and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and, in order not to breach that protocol, we will be advising persons on the swearing-in,” Johnson Smith told members of the press at Jamaica House.
She said that she understood that there were names and portfolios circulating in social media, but urged the country to bear in mind that there has been no formal announcement of the list so far.
“There will, however, be a formal announcement made upon the swearing in,” she said.
The swearing in of MPs takes place today at 2:00 pm at King’s House.
