Man cuts woman in face after failed robbery
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man who confessed to cutting the complainant in her face because he was unable to rob her, was sentenced to two years in prison.
Nineteen-year-old Ravon Foster, a resident of Hannah Town, Kingston 12, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding.
Reports are that on October 7, the complainant was standing at the intersection of Clydale Avenue and Ken Hill Drive in Pembroke Hall, Kingston, when the accused, armed with a knife, approached her and inflicted a wound to the right side of her face.
The complainant was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she reportedly received eight stitches.
Foster was arrested.
When Foster appeared in court, Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey tried to fathom the reason for him cutting the complainant in her face.
“Why you did it?” she asked.
Foster did not reply.
“You bold enough to walk up and cut her in her face, tell mi why,” Pusey insisted.
“I attempted to rob her,” he said.
“And what happen?” Pusey asked.
“Mi ask her fi har phone and mi didn’t get through,” he said.
The complainant told the court that she was standing at the bus stop when he came up to her and cut her in her face.
The court was told that when he was cautioned, he told the police that he asked her for a cellular phone and he didn’t get it.
