Mandela Highway bus lane extended for two years
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The exclusive Jamaican Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus lane on Mandela Highway in St Catherine will continue to facilitate JUTC buses on weekday mornings for an additional two years.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement at this morning’s contract signing ceremony to widen and rehabilitate the Mandela Highway in St Catherine.
“With the widening of the road, this arrangement certainly will no longer be necessary. The arrangement will therefore continue until this is completed,” Holness said during his delivery of the main address, at The Towers in New Kingston
The project which will commence at Six Miles and break in the vicinity of Portmore turn off and continue along the carriageway to the roundabout at Jose Marti High School in St Catherine, is expected to be completed within two years.
