Opposition leader writes to French ambassador expressing regret
ST ANN, Jamaica – Opposition Leader Andrew Holness has written to the French Ambassador expressing deep regret at news of the tragic loss of lives through attacks on the people of France by terrorists on Friday.
The Opposition leader in his letter said: “We can hardly begin to imagine how traumatizing and horrifying the attacks are and the entire Jamaica stands in support of you and your country”.
In reaching out to the French people he added that, as a member of the international community, “we speak with one voice on this most reprehensible crime”.
“I trust that the global community of nations will mobilise all the support and assistance that can be provided. No effort should be spared in bringing the terrorists responsible for this tragedy to justice and demonstrate that peace and order will always triumph over evil,” Holness condemned.
“The founding principles of your republic – Liberté, égalité, fraternité – have always inspired us towards a better democracy. On behalf of the Jamaica Labour Party and all Jamaicans, please accept our sympathies,” Holness said.
