Plans in place to deal with police absence in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the St James Division Steve McGregor says that up to a short while ago, just over 60 rank and file members reported sick.
More than 350 policemen and women are assigned to the St James Division.
SSP McGregor reported that police in the parish are receiving assistance from the military and the key areas are being policed.
“The military are providing strong assistance at this time. What we have had to do is prioritise our operations to ensure effectiveness and continuity.
“We have assigned police officers who have turned up for duty to man the courts and the cells where prisoners are kept. These are essential areas of operations, so we have to ensure that they are dealt with effectively. We are also receiving assistance from our District Constables.
“All members of our officer corps are on duty, so along with the JDF, we are doing all that is possible to ensure and mitigate any fallout which may occur due to the sick-out,” SSP McGregor said.
