Plastic explosives found in Trench Town
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says a team of soldiers and police personnel discovered a tube of C4 plastic explosive and a home-made shotgun during an operation in the gritty community of Trench Town, Kingston.
According to the JDF, a cordon and search operation was conducted in parts of Trench Town early yesterday morning, when a house on Lower Second Street was searched for contraband. The joint military and police team then discovered a home-made shot gun with two live twelve gauge cartridges and an 18 inch tube of explosive in the ceiling of the house. A number of men were detained in connection with the find, the JDF said in its report.
The JDF said it is concerned about the discovery of C4 because of its “sheer destructive power”
Terrorist groups worldwide have repeatedly used C-4 for its highly explosive properties.
