Portmore bus operators strike over killing of conductor
ST CATHERINE Jamaica — Operators of mini-buses, which ply the route from Bayside to Spanish Town, today withdrew their services over the killing of a conductor.
Reports reaching the OBSERVER ONLINE are that a conductor, popularly known as Kevin, was stabbed to death while on duty in Independence City on Monday night.
“A man came on the bus Monday night and upon reaching his destination in Independence City he refused to pay his fare, which resulted an argument between himself and the conductor,” a Portmore resident who requested anonymity said.
According to the resident, a knife was brought into play and the conductor fatally stabbed.
The police are investigating the incident.
