Soldier killed in Highway 2000 crash
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A member of the Jamaica Defence Force was today killed when his motor vehicle crashed into guard rails on the PJ Patterson Highway.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Ricardo Palmer who resided in Portmore, St Catherine. Palmer was attached to the Coast Guard Division in Portland.
When contacted by OBSERVER ONLINE, Senior Superintendent in charge of traffic Calvin Allen said that the details surrounding the crash were unclear at this time.
However, he reported that the incident occurred about 2:00 pm and based on investigations, the deceased who was travelling in a Honda civic motor vehicle, seemingly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the guard rails on the Wynter’s Park Bridge. He was reportedly thrown from the vehicle.
