Suspect in MoBay armoured car heist held
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica –The St James police have held a suspect in connection with the recent daring robbery of an armoured vehicle in a busy Montego Bay shopping plaza.
A guard employed to Hawkeye Security Limited and two of the armed bandits were reportedly shot and injured during a gun battle which ensued.
OBSERVER ONLINE has been informed that over $10million was stolen in the heist. Of that amount a little over $5million was cash, while the rest was in cheques.
According to people claiming to be eyewitnesses, about 10:00 am Monday a Hawkeye team was in the process of delivering cash to the Sagicor Bank in the Fairview Shopping Centre when they were attacked by three masked gunmen wearing ballistic vests. The men had arrived at the plaza in a Toyota Townace van which had no registration plates.
The three crooks were able to escape in the van with a bag containing money.
