Tanker drivers back on the job
GASOLENE tanker drivers, who went on strike Thursday following a dispute at the Petrojam loading rack, resumed their duties yesterday morning.
The back-to-work agreement was hammered out at a marathon meeting with the drivers’ representatives, Petrojam management, and the National Workers’ Union (NWU), which represents the drivers.
According to NWU president Vincent Morrison, the drivers agreed to resume their duties on the 6:00 am shift after coming to an agreement surrounding allegations that a driver had committed a breach of regulations. He, however, did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged breach.
“.The company is conducting an investigation and they will inform us what is the result of that investigation into the alleged breach carried out by the driver,” Morrison said.
The strike caused a run on several gas stations on Thursday.
