Tropical Depression Fred expected to weaken
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says at 4:00 am, the centre of Tropical Depression Fred was located near Latitude 23.2 degrees north and Longitude 41.0 degrees west or about 2,115 km southwest of the Azores.
Tropical Depression Fred is moving toward the west-northwest near 19 km/h. A turn to the northwest and a decrease in forward speed are forecast by tonight, followed by a turn toward the north on Sunday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in strength are possible during the next 48 hours.
The Met Service said Fred is not a threat to Jamaica.
