St James mines gold at Denbigh
ST James captured nine of the 10 sectional prizes in this month’s staging of the popular Denbigh Agricultural Show held in Clarendon.
Patrons expressed delight at the colourful and eye-catching displays that covered areas including the environment, tourism integrated with agriculture, information technology, marketing, cottage industry, aquaculture, apiculture, youth in agriculture and community initiatives.
Displays were mounted to hold the interest of everyone, from the young to the elderly. A hot beverage prepared from the traditional Jamaican chocolate sent many of the elderly down memory lane.
Children were fascinated with the well-organised birds, rabbits, and guinea pigs along with some endangered species that were on display. Women feasted their eyes on the many and varied products of the home economics and social services section, while practising and aspiring farmers were equally enthused with the innovations displayed in the various agricultural sub-sectors.
