WESTERN BUREAU — Twenty-eight year-old Curtis Frazer of Toll Gate, Westmoreland was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $1 million with two sureties, when he appeared in the Savanna-La-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on manslaughter charges.

Frazer was charged with two counts of manslaughter on Monday, in connection with the death of his sister-in-law, Joan Frazer, 29, and her five year-old son, Maric Frazer.

Reports are that about 2:45 pm last Friday, Curtis was driving his Toyota Corolla motor car towards Negril, with six passengers aboard, when on reaching Retreat he reportedly loss control of the vehicle, which ran off the road into a precipice.

The injured passengers were taken to the Savanna-la-mar General Hospital were Joan and young Maric were pronounced dead.

The other passengers — Otis Fraser, 29; Kemorine Clarke, 24; Curtis Robinson, 25; and Mekisha Blake 17 — all of Westmoreland addresses, were admitted in serious condition.

Curtis reportedly fled the scene of the accident, but was held by the police on Saturday and slapped with manslaughter charges.

He is scheduled to return to court on June 17, when his case will again be mentioned.
