Western Jamaica Domino tourney starts Sunday
MONTEGO BAY, St James — AFTER months of scouring corporate Jamaica for a sponsor, President of the Western Jamaica Domino Association, Walton Andrade Morgraidge, has secured a $1/4 million commitment from Wray and Nephew Limited to faciliate the launch of the Premier and Division One leagues.
Dubbed the Wray and Nephew Overproof White rum Western Jamaica Domino competition, the series, which will be launched at the Pecus Lawn on Barnett Street this Sunday at 12:00 noon will see Montego Bay’s Strike Force and Tropical Rhythms teams playing the first match.
“We are very happy to have Wray and Nephew as our title sponsors, and we are very grateful for the support of the team,” an elated Morgraidge told the Observer West this week.
The resumption of the competition under the Wray and Nephew brand comes after a nine-month break.

* Tuff Gong and Dynasty, Union Street
* Tornadoes, Picott Street
* Cool Wave, Falmouth Gardens, Trelawny;
* Assassin, Market Street, Falmouth;
* Rainbow Strikers from Duncans, Trelawny;
* Fighter Jet, Carey Park, Trelawny
* Morning Star from Clarks Town
* Deeside Untouchables from Deeside
* Star International from Kingloss, Trelawny
* Palm Court from West End, Negril
* Unity Striker from St Simon, Hanover;
* High Grade, Green Island, Hanover
* Retrieve, Cambridge, Westmoreland
The top four teams in the competition will go on to form the Premier league while the bottom eight will form the Division One teams. Additional prizes in the form of 4 cellular phones and $4,000 credit from Digicel will go to the most outstanding pair in terms of playing ability and discipline while the most punctual team will also get some credit, Morgraidge said.
